Spyro Gyra Saturday!

Hello again folks!  Another post, another day.  Finally the weekend off.  Mind you, for nurses it only comes once every *two* weeks.

First off, to Dave;  I have your number in the system again, so I'll give you a holler back tonight if you'd like to respond to this post below that you'll be awake.  I won't call you now because I want to "catch up", and we're just getting ready to leave.  We're going to Penn's Peak to see Spyro Gyra tonight!  The link is here; http://www.pennspeak.com  I've had these tickets for about three months now.  We're third-row, center!  It pays to order early.  The concert starts at 8PM, so we should be home, say, around midnight.  Let me know if it's alright to call you then... or if you're really adventurous you could stop down!  It's *never* too late here.    Don't forget, I have that display case built in the camper waiting for you, glass and all.   Smile

Another note to Dave;  I took care of the ol' request you made.  They're down until things quite down.  You know what I mean.    But I wanted to ask you - You like classic horror films, right?  Well, Poltergeist is coming up on its' 25th anniversary.  Yea, I know, I can't believe it either.    They're putting it back on the "big-screen" for ONE NIGHT ONLY.  It's October 4th at 7:30pm.  The closest theater is Hazelton.  Liza and I already have tickets from http://www.fandango.com   Let me know if the family/you/Missy would like to accompany.  They're playing a 15 minute segment before the film about real-life poltergeist activity... probably nothing we've not heard of, but just seeing the movie back on the big screen again will be the highlight of my night!  Anyway...

 Now, general announcement to all the folks;

I am currently working on getting the team into several different places.  Amongst them are the Easton Library, the Dansbury Depot, the Jim Thorpe prison, and the State Theater in Easton, PA.  All these places are, of course, purported to be "haunted".  I've put my feelers out and am in negotiations right now.  This is, unfortunately, the best time to try to "get into" these places as, with the onset of the hallowe'en season establishments love the publicity.  Again, and this sounds like a broken record, more on this as I know.

We're going to be training again soon.  We want to try to do both new member-elect's at one shot, but it's difficult to coordinate.  Yea Dave, we'll be back at the same old "haunt" to instruct, show how the equipment works, and give some starting pointers as to the "science" behind the research.  If you, (Dave), can come up with any other different place, please just say so.  Yea, I'm tired of that cemetery as well...    Maybe Chiryl will let us back into her house to see her ghosts. Laughing

I'm still doing private research here, (you can't really do this in a "group" setting), on astral projection as well.  I made it through on Coast to Coast AM again last night... open lines night... and was unfortunately cut short due to an oncoming station break.  I only got to tell a portion of my most successful out-of-body experience, and sounded like a damn fool... at least *I* thought I did.  I'll extract that and post it on the front page for all to hear.  Thank GOD I didn't say who I was.  George Noory never asked!  I guess he was trying to sneak one more call in before the bottom-of-the-hour, and kind of had to rush.  Still, some day soon I'll type up exactly what I experienced and post it on the page.   What you hear me describe is simply the tip of the iceberg with no summary.  I was disappointed not being able to tell my story.  I also didn't plan what I was going to say in my head beforehand, so that didn't help either.  Frown

That's it!  I've got to cut this here because I've got to get ready.  See everyone soon.  Take care and be safe.

Friday, thank GOD!

It's been a long week at the local nursing home.  We're all good workers where I work, but this week the state inspectors have graced us with their presence.  This means that *everything* has to be done "by-the-book", which is stressful.  At least today is the final day.  On top of that, last night I had the crap beaten out of me by a confused/combative resident.  He took me by the scruff of the neck and ripped my shirt in the process to the point that it was pulled down over my chest with my right shoulder exposed... it looked like a more profound version of Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction".  Anyone who understands nursing knows that you can't retaliate in any way, shape, or form, so you simply have to walk away.  He gave himself a nice skin tear in the process as well.  So much for that shirt.  Couldn't have happened at a worse time either!  They had a function where they brought in greyhounds for the residents to pet and see, so the place was teeming with activity... and here comes ol' John walking down the hall looking like a pirate with my shirt simply draped over me.  I tried to compose myself and hold my shirt together, but it was like trying to cover a man-hole with a napkin.  Then to find out that laundry, (where they keep extra scrub-tops), was closed up tight.  What did I do?  I took an ordinary stapler from behind the nurses station and slap-dashedly repaired my shirt to the best of my ability with that, and got on with the night.  Did I look stupid?  Probably.  Hey, it worked.

 Anyway...

First and foremost; Dave!  I got your e-mail.  I responded to them and they bounce.  I've checked all my settings, and to no avail.  Also, during that bad lightning storm we had a while back our power went out and reset all the settings in my caller ID, so I don't have your number in the memory banks any more.  If you can get a quickie "free" e-mail from Yahoo or something, at least I can e-mail you.  I don't get it.  They're coming through, but not making it back to you.

I got the re-enactment pics!  You look great heirmano!  I'm going to post that on our front page if you don't mind!

Secondly;  The new "members" I spoke of are a Juliene and Nancy.  Juliene is an 18-year-old lady who is very interested in the paranormal, and already knows how to interview with a recorder for EVP.  I've been slowly teaching her stuff at work when we have time to talk.  I was a bit wary after our "Jess & Brian" incident, (as we've come to refer to it here - long story), but she seems decent enough.

Nancy, on the other hand, seem to have a sincere interest in the whole study.  She's an RN, and 50ish.  More on her as I set things up.

That's pretty much it for it today.  I'll post over the weekend, (we have off Dave!  The only thing we have going on is on Saturday night - we're going to see Spyro Gyra at Penn's Peak!), and keep things updated.  Perhaps I'll get a bit of time to try to get the site reconfiguration started.  Take care all, happy Friday, and I'll see everyone over the weekend.

I haven't seen you in a long time...

Wow.  Where does one start?

Firstly, I have decided to start a blog, as it were, to at least capsulize our apparent lack of web-presence as of late.  We at Pocono Paranormal are still *very* interested in continuing our work.  We've made past progress, but sometimes real life gets in the way.

As many of the visitors of this page know, I've dealt with a loss of a parent within the past year.  On August 15, 2006 my Mother decided to check-out early and committed suicide due to a long duration of prescription drug abuse.  After basically destroying the inside of her house by letting her elderly dogs run riot and not letting them out, my wife and I cleaned things to the best of our ability and auctioned the house of getting roughly, as we were led to believe, 44K.  She blew through that money and *then* decided to check out.  That left Liza and I holding the bag for numerous bills that were unpaid.  Now, we didn't owe that money because I was not the POA, (thank God), but it's still something to be dealt with.  She also stuck me in death for her funeral costs, which we are still paying off.  Then I find out that the family member, (who shall remain nameless), who sold the home for her actually got 88K for the home.  That means, after costs, that 36K has gone mysteriously missing.  Liza and I, having no siblings and not having any family still living to speak of, are essentially alone.

We work at a local nursing home 3-11PM shift which also leaves us at much of an energy deficit due to the continued short-staffing that plagues all long-term-care facilities.  (There are rumors and reports that that facility has it's share of hauntings... no big surprise, considering that most of the most haunted areas in the world are prisons, nursing homes, hospitals, and mental institutions, but I've asked and they will not allow us to "set up" - totally understandable.)

I also have been dealing with issues of health concerning my cardiovascular.  I don't have a "weak heart", but I am inclined to be overweight as anyone who knows me or has seen my picture on the site can attest to.  I had gone to Dr. Frank Romascavage for a basic checkup, and he did total tests on me, top to toe.  Let me say, this guy is a saint!  He's the official doctor for WWE Wrestling, and he *knows his stuff*.  Anyway...  I went to him and had the works done, and he found that my body is not processing cholesterol properly.  The numbers are supposed to run about 200 MAXIMUM for cholesterol, mine was 444.  Triglycerides are supposed to run about 150 MAXIMUM, mine was over 1200.  YIKES.  I've been battling with that, and I've definitely lowered the numbers, and my blood pressure, (which was also out of control), has dropped as well.  As a matter of fact, I've dropped almost 20 pounds, and I barely need blood pressure medication any more.  Good news, right?

Then it happened.  About a month ago, from the culmination of everything from the past year, my nerves went.  I was at work when it happened, and, if you've never experienced a severe anxiety attack, you never *want* to.  I thought I was going to be researching the paranormal from the opposite side of the spectrum.  Your brain stops processing thoughts properly, and you think you're heading for the last round up.  Dr. Romascavage was informed, and he immediately started me on buspar.  I didn't go "nutty", I just couldn't take the strain of a normal night's work.  It's your body's way of saying "whoa, too much overload!"

So, to summarize, I've started taking things a bit slower.  I wake up, and I now know that whether I worry or not, the sky is still colored blue.  Am I still hyper and have a "go-get'em" attitude?  Sure.  But *nothing* is worth dropping dead over.

Liza and I are trying to get on-track by paying off some bills.  We also found out, some years ago, that Liza cannot have children.  To that end we are concentrating on adoption.  We're getting some extemporaneous bills paid off, and looking into going to college to get out of our back-breaking nurse aide profession.  I'm actually focused on psychology.  We're trying to get things together.  It seems to be working.

This has not left a lot of time for paranormal research.  I still keep up-to-date with things via Coast to Coast AM, and the internet, and I am going to start focusing on something that should've been done a while ago - Reformatting the website here.  It's a huge task, but doable.

I do hope my esteemed colleague is alright.  I've tried to contact Dave since June, with no luck, so I've not spoken with him for a couple months.  (Dave, if you're reading this, I've got a completed action figure display unit for your boys built, painted, glass and all, for you - I did it in my spare time and it's on me!)  I do home he and his family are alright.  We need to have a serious conflab to discuss the direction of PPRS.  I will keep our fans posted right here, (no pun intended), on latest updates.  We need Dave here though, because without the ol' chap it's just not PPRS.  We also have rumblings of a new permanent member.  More on her as it develops.

That's it!  I have to get ready for work, but I will post every few days as to the progress I've made with PPRS.  Take care, God bless, and keep watching.  Good things are coming!
